Midweek Blues: Cats for sale

@ mirandablue

I don't know much about cats but I think this is a cute pair.  These two were for sale for almost US$100 each.  I hope they ended up in a good home.

Mellow Yellow Monday #10: Duranta repens

@ mirandablue
  • Botanical Name: Duranta erecta ‘Geisha Girl’ or ‘Sweet Memories’ (synonym: Duranta repens)
  • Common Name: Pigeon Berry, Golden Dewdrop, Skyflower
Spotted this shrub abundant with small globose yellow berries along the highway in Davao City, near Malagos Garden Resort.  Golden Dewdrop are cultivated as ornamental plant, and the blossoms attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The berries and leaves, however, are toxic, and are confirmed to have killed children, dogs and cats.  However, songbirds eat the fruits without ill effects. (source:  Wikipedia)

Pink Lantana/Today's Flowers #29

@ mirandablue
Dwarf Pink lantana
Lantana montevidensis

This is a fast growing, spreading perennial, treated as an annual in cooler areas. Flowers profusely throughout the summer, attracting butterflies. Leaves are 1 inch long, dark green, with coarsely toothed edges. The light pink blooms appear in domed clusters, covering the plant from summer to frost. Thrives with full sun, low moisture and poor soil. Withstands salt spray too.  Poisonous; foliage contact can irritate skin.

"There are poisons that blind you, and poisons that open your eyes."

Walnut Crusted Fish

@ mirandablue
This is the other dish I got at the Cookbook Kitchen in Eastwood---Walnut Crusted Fish with mango sauce.  Unfortunately, I was disenchanted with this dish.  The fish fillet had no distinctive flavor, the breading was too thick, and the walnuts didn't enhance the flavor.  The mango sauce was the only redeeming factor of the dish.  But it looks good, 'no?:p

Korean pasta

@ mirandablue
I have no idea what this pasta dish is called in Korean.  The sauce has squid, cabbage and possibly chili powder, a lot of it.  It was excessively spicy I've lost all feeling on my tongue!  I love spicy food but couldn't tolerate this one.  And I made a mistake of sipping cheap sake to cool off my burning tongue.  It tasted like a 3-day old tuba, an alcoholic drink from the sap of coconut tree that turns sour after 2 to 3 days---so different from the sake I had before.

This was my Korean misadventure.

Tofu with coconut milk

@ mirandablue
Tofu with vegetables and coconut milk from Jatujak, a Thai restaurant.  Not my choice and I didn't like it.  I find the combination of string beans, young corn and other veggies a bit strange.  The young corn was also chewy.  But my friend S wanted her tofu and veggies---I think she felt guilty for eating crispy pata at lunch.:p
