Red Powderpuff/Today's Flowers #35

@ mirandablue
Spotted this spiky red flower by the road side in Laguna.  I didn't know its name until I searched on line.  It's known as Red Powderpuff, Blood Red Tassel Flower and Fairy Duster. It belongs to the species of Calliandra, a genus of flowering plants, shrubs and small trees native to tropical and sub-tropical regions of southern Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas.

Agave sampler

@ mirandablue
A bit of everything in one plate.  Shared this appetizer sampler with two friends at Agave Mexican Cantina in Bonifacio High Street. This is a selection of Agave's popular appetizers--Yucatan chicken skewers, beef taquitos, fresh mushroom empanaditas, crab & shrimp chile rellenos, quesadillas and Mexican and lime-cilantro rice.  Served with hacienda ranch dip, chips and salsa.

Soup and pasta @ Almon Marina

@ mirandablue
Almon Marina is my favorite place when I needed a quick lunch or a light dinner. They serve healthy and fresh sandwiches, and their a la carte dishes are well-cooked.  Mushroom soup and Carbonara---my snack cum dinner on Sunday.  I needed a full stomach before I ventured to the HomeWorld sale at the SM Megatrade hall.:p

Imperial Blue Plumbago/Today's Flowers #34

@ mirandablue
Imperial Blue Plumbago, Plumbago auriculata, Skyflower
My landlord planted this flower in the wall planter of the patio---I love the light blue flowers.  This is a pretty common flower around here but I don't know what the local name is. I got the name on-line---Imperial Blue Plumbago, a native of South Africa.  It is a relatively fast growing shrub that doesn't mind long, humid summers.  The light blue flowers are prolific during the warmer months, it requires full sun but will bloom in partial shade.  Plumbago also attracts birds and butterflies. It is traditionally used to treat warts, broken bones and wounds, and a supposed cure for lead poisoning.

Vegetarian Lettuce Wrap

@ mirandablue
One of my favorite appetizers at Pho Hoa---fried rice paper roll with lettuce wrap. It's a vegetarian spring roll served with fresh lettuce.  It is eaten wrapped in fresh lettuce and dipped in a tasty, sweet spicy vinegar sauce.
