Gumamela/Hibiscus

Two colors of gumamela/hibiscus I spotted at a parking lot near the Manila Ocean Park.  Hibiscus is a pretty common flower here, we usually take it for granted.  I'm glad somebody took time to plant these flowers in the parking lot.

Red and Pink Hibiscus

Each day, awakening, are we asked  to paint the sky blue?  Need we coax the sun to rise or flowers to bloom?  Need we teach birds to sing, or children to laugh, or lovers to kiss?  No, though we think the world imperfect, it surrounds us each day with its perfections.  We are asked only to appreciate them, and to show appreciation by living in peaceful harmony amidst them.  The Creator does not ask that we create a perfect world; He asks that we celebrate it.  ~ Robert Brault

Gumamela, China Rose, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Linn
Hibiscus locally known as gumamela is cultivated as an ornamental flower throughout the Philippines.  It is also a primary ingredient in many herbal teas. Gumamela flowers are used as an expectorant in bronchitis, for general coughs, and as a refrigerant drink in fevers.  It is also used on mumps, hematomas, headaches and urinary tract infection.  It is known to treat tumors, also as purgative and laxative. Hibiscus (Gumamela)

Give and take...
For to the bee, a flower is a fountain of life
and to the flower, a bee is a messenger of love
and to both, bee and flower,
the giving and the receiving is a need and an ecstasy.
