It just breaks my heart when I see beautiful architectural beauties perishing because of last of money and/or interest. Maybe we as picture takers are more cognizant of things like this. I do not know, but I certainly wish we o led turn back the clock. This tower is so beautiful. See the Western Union sign reminds me of when I was a child. If some one sent you a telegram it came in a fully little typed format on a yellowish piece of paper. No more. Those were so special and we kept them. Love this post. Genie
I am more sad to see that the house are too close to the tower. I wish this tower is fence just to keep a little distance from the new era. It's really the sign of times ^_^
This photo takes my breath away - what a stunning sight to see. I agree that the picture would have been better without the modern building beside it, but then the impact would have been lost.

the western union is next to the church so you have money before going to church :)
the new is very jarring, I think. Bright yellow signs beside ancient buildings should not be allowed!

The old structure is fantastic! I like the state of decay but I know they have to do something quickly before it falls apart.
