Cadena de Amor, Coral Vine, Antigonon leptopus
A tropical climbing, perennial vine I found at the back of an old church in Culion Island. Cadena de Amor (Chain of Love) is used in folkloric medicine and wild-crafted all over the Philippines. Studies have shown that extracts exhibit anti-thrombin, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and lipid peroxidation inhibitory activities.
What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left,
O let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and wilderness yet.
