Imperial Blue Plumbago/Today's Flowers #34

@ mirandablue
Imperial Blue Plumbago, Plumbago auriculata, Skyflower
My landlord planted this flower in the wall planter of the patio---I love the light blue flowers.  This is a pretty common flower around here but I don't know what the local name is. I got the name on-line---Imperial Blue Plumbago, a native of South Africa.  It is a relatively fast growing shrub that doesn't mind long, humid summers.  The light blue flowers are prolific during the warmer months, it requires full sun but will bloom in partial shade.  Plumbago also attracts birds and butterflies. It is traditionally used to treat warts, broken bones and wounds, and a supposed cure for lead poisoning.

Blue flowers are a favourite colour of mine - especially paired with yellow. It reminds me of a cascading germanium grown here in Canada. Love the balls of flower bursts.

I haven't grown this for many, many years but your photo reminds me just how lovely the Plumbago flowers are! That's a pretty shot.

What a beautiful little flower, I really like the soft blue color. I can see why the birds and butterfly would like this plant.

The common name for the Plumbago here is Forget-me-not.Plenty of them here, and they bloom all year long. Beautifully photographed.

One of the easy plants to grow, and they make the gardens look more beautiful.
