Red Powderpuff/Today's Flowers #35

@ mirandablue
Spotted this spiky red flower by the road side in Laguna.  I didn't know its name until I searched on line.  It's known as Red Powderpuff, Blood Red Tassel Flower and Fairy Duster. It belongs to the species of Calliandra, a genus of flowering plants, shrubs and small trees native to tropical and sub-tropical regions of southern Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas.

@ mirandablue
Red Powderpuff, Fairy Duster, Calliandra haematocephala

Loved this Fairy Duster when I saw them blooming in the Sonoran desert in Arizona...they are fascinating as they really do look like little bright red brushes!

Sweet captures of the red powderpuff, Luna... and what an apt name for them (didn't know that)! I've seen them in Batangas, too.

Such pretty powder-puffs, so like some of our native flora.
