A tarp at Atwayan beach in Coron Island. A few meters from this white sanded beach is a shallow reef covered with colorful leathery and soft corals, sea stars, anemones--they were the only ones I could identify. It was an enchanted forest underwater. We snorkeled with the small reef fishes.

I hope people heed this sign. Corals are so delicate.
Oh, now I see Halcyon and I both used the word 'heed'!
Keeping the place as a sanctuary, we should follow what the sign says.

Is snorkeling required to view the coral garden?
I hope this wonderful sign works well ... it's amazing how much damage can be done to the environment without us even realizing it!
Many don't know how important coral reefs are. Hope people will follow this sign.

I agree...lets protect what has God given to us and enjoy it:)
I remember in the 70s, when we got a lot of corals and shells from Philipines.
I'm glad that more environmental education/protection signs are sprouting everywhere in the Philippines. That's the first step - the next is action! I wish the sign was placed in a more stable/steady position and not dangling from a branch of a coconut tree.
I bet you had a great time!
