Noticed these showy flowers growing wildly at the roadside near the convenience store I frequent. The flowers look similar to False Sunflower, Smooth Oxeye, Heliopsis helianthoides, a species in the Aster family. It looks like this plant has mastered every survival skill.
I learn more about God
from weeds than from roses;
Resilience springing
through the smallest chink of hope
in the absolute of concrete...

never heard of false sunflowers - they do look pretty though
They're beautiful! I love the poem by Pulfrey ... so many times I have thought how lovely weeds can be.
They're very pretty.
Lovely with yellow flowers in spring, they are noticed in the flowerbeds, and sunny we need at this time.
Have a sunny week :-)
Beautiful flowers. I never knew their names before.
Pretty flowers
Very beautiful and cheerful flowers.
A pretty series of cheerful blooms - thanks for sharing. Also love that stunning Hibiscus in your header; great capture! (Thanks for your kind comments)
Pretty flowers!
Very beautiful. They scream to me spring is here.
Nice and bright. These flowers are signs of spring here.
Love it!
Love their bright color!
Thank you for sharing, so pretty, bright and beautiful :) Thanks for stopping by my TF post. The closest I came to identifying the first picture was a Peacock Ornamental Cabbage, but I still am not 100 percent certain. I have seen ornamental cabbages here before but not quite like that one.
I've never heard of "false sunflowers" too. I see those yellow flowers too here in the metro.
Gorgeous captures!!
