Mellow Yellow Monday # 33: Golden bamboo

@ mirandablue
A foliage of golden bamboo at the Philippine Eagle Center in Davao City.  Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the planet, and has cultural and economic significance not only in the Philippines but in Southeast Asia.  It has a potential to preserve the forests, contribute to the conservation of biodiversity, provide food, livelihood and a versatile raw material. Bamboo also plays an important role in the Philippine creation myth.  Legend tells that the first man, Malakas (strong), and the first woman, Maganda (beautiful), each emerged from split bamboo stems. :p

Wow, beautiful bamboos! These are one of my favorite trees (or grasses?). Bamboo is classified as grass, right?

I really really like yellow bamboo and have been keeping my eyes open for an interesting shot. You beat me to it, Luna!

[So we are both fearless eaters... great! It doesn't mean I LIKE everything, though, and I won't eat something a second time that didn't please the palate! You could be absolutely right about the pork chops; I really have no clue! Check back tomorrow, maybe Kaori will tell us. ;-) ]

What a great legend. I've seen bamboo before and know a little about it, but this is the loveliest stand I've ever seen -- it just glows!

I'm from Davao but I've been to Phil Eagle just once. Shame on me! We had a little house before which floors were made of bamboo. I liked it in the countryside.

Oh the bamboos! I like your photo, it's centered and the bamboo looks like in the middle of the garden, a good focal point.

We used to have a bamboo tree here at home but it destroyed most of the flooring of our house so my dad had to cut it down :(
