Cafe/Signs

This is my favorite cafe at Tiendesitas, a shopping complex housed in a 12 Maranao architecture-inspired pavilions.  Tita Lynn's ("Tita" means aunt) serves the best flavored suman (rice cake made from glutinous rice, cooked in coconut milk and steamed in banana leaves) in town.  They also serve hot chocolate, brewed coffee and the expensive kape alamid (or civet coffee), made from the beans of coffee berries obtained from the droppings of the civet cat, said to be one of the most coveted and most expensive coffee in the world.

 suman and hot choco---we didn't order kape alamid, too expensive!

Would you actually drink that coffee? I'm pretty open to trying new things, but that kinda' scares me. Cute signs.

I don't drink coffee so wouldn't have to make a decision about that coffee!

I KNEW there was a reason I don't drink coffee, ESPECIALLY if it's pooped out of a cat, or ANY animal, for that matter! Interesting post!

Tiendesitas is such a nice word. I've never paired suman with choclate before even though I know that is the perfect pairing.

The suman sounds delicious, (sticky rice and cocunut how could it not) and I love a cup of coffee. Not sure about the kape alamid, I wonder who thought first to use those berries.

I like the way the sign is lit up - very eye catching.

Everything sounds wonderful, not so sure about the kape alamid ... but then again, I'd try almost anything once! :=}

Kape alamid blimey I just found out I'm allergic to it which is perfect for my wallet. Hot choco and suman are a great combination. That 'pay as you order' sign didn't mean anything to me years ago. Now I am getting an idea why that is so almost everywhere in the country. It seems to match the kind of economy (and probably buying mentality) that we have.

The suman and hot chocolate sound like wonderful comfort treats. I'll pass on the civet coffee, however. Very inviting-looking cafe.
